What we can do is to utilise our time effectively and how do we define effectiveness? We must accept that our actions/activities which do not disturb our peace of mind and in fact, help us to cope with the negativity around, it is only then we are engaged in an effective exercise of our mind.
At times, we often tend to get distracted by some interesting news which is depicted to be the most important of the day but is not. Gradually, we get indulged into the story so much so we forget about our peace of mind and start taking things personally. It is then, we lose!
During such times of crisis (I'd prefer to call it so as we loose our own-self in the process) our Hobbies and Activities of our interests come to our rescue.
It is very important to understand that giving our personal views on macro-events won't be of benefit to anyone as there will be the other side of the story as well and we will find that we stand divided at the end because of some useless news which is actually the responsibility of someone in authority, and we need to remind ourselves time and again that we aren't responsible or liable for the macro-events taking place. In fact, there are special committees and teams set up for every big and important event, and they brainstorm and come to conclusions after taking a number of suggestions from the committee members for which they are, most probably, paid as well (talking about the logical aspect of big events). So, do our views which create a rift and disturb our peace of mind in any way doing some good?
Now, few people might argue that we must know what is happening around us. I totally agree to that, we certainly should know what is happening but it is never a necessity to develop enmity or negativity with anyone who is having a different opinion (which is never cared for, anyhow). People who often indulge in war of words are not doing any good to anyone but only wasting their time and energy and also, to an extent, making their relationship worse.
Our motive must be to get aware of the happenings and continue with our daily routine, rather than get stuck in front of the TV and keep watching the same piece of news every time. We can simply see the headlines and get back to work or the activities that give us peace and happiness.
We can simply spend time with our family, talk to friends over phone or even meet them (applicable when things are back to normal), or get busy with our hobbies and let our minds concentrate on things which we have full control over rather than the mega-events for which we are neither responsible nor can help by simply giving our views.
But yes, we must certainly help each other grow and further our relationships to a far greater level with an increased level of individual development for it will be only then that we would contribute towards the bigger goals of ourselves, Family and the Nation as a whole. \m/
